GAUTIER, Mississippi -- The Gautier City Council approved a resolution giving conditional pre-approval for a three-year tax abatement on improvements to the Jason Pilger Hyundai at its Tuesday meeting in City Hall.

The construction is estimated at $582,878 and will create nine new construction jobs with a payroll of $340,000, according to information from the city's planning and economic development department.

"It is anticipated that sales at the dealership will increase by $2.5 million, adding a total of four new operations jobs on the Gulf Coast totaling $197,000," the city report stated.

The tax abatement was approved with little comment other than congratulations to Pilger, who was in the audience.

"Jason, welcome to the neighborhood and I hope you are here for a very long time," said Councilman Gordon Gollott.
